half truth - a statement that is essentially true, but lacking critical information and presented as the whole truth.

Unlike with a false claim, someone using a half truth can't be accused of lying because the information they are presenting is true, and if they are accused of leaving out certain facts, they can always claim ignorance.

: Obama mentions a special deduction for companies moving overseas, without mentioning it's the same standard deduction for any business that relocates anywhere, not just overseas.^[8]
